4. It Teaches You The Importance Of Doing - It - Yourself

It goes without saying that an independent attitude will take you far, and you definitely don't want your kids to grow up wanting society to hand them everything on a plate. DIY has been the key ethos of punk from the very start, and it's a valuable trait for anyone to have in every aspect of life. Music-wise, channels are spilling with pop stars and rappers in yachts and mansions. Now, not to say it didn't take a lot of hard work for many of them to get there; but it's hard to imagine they formed a band together in their garage, organised their own gigs, and put out their own records: they probably just stood in a line for ten hours and sang in front of Simon Cowell and a studio audience.
