8 Musicians Who Were Busted For Exposing Themselves On Stage
5. Jim Morrison
The charismatic lead singer of The Doors became the poster boy for public indecency and added to his increasing infamy when he briefly exposed his genitals during a 1969 concert in Miami, Florida. Most accounts of the story claim Morrison was drunk and aggravated, chiding the audience in the middle of songs and spouting obscenities, though not everyone in attendance that night agrees the singer actually exposed himself. Some claim he merely suggested he was going to do it, but never followed through.
Despite the disagreements about whether any private parts had really been showcased, Morrison had a total of six warrants out for his arrest, including one felony charge of “Lewd and lascivious behavior in public by exposing his private parts and by simulating masturbation and oral copulation.”
Morrison rejected a plea bargain and was sentenced to six months in jail, however, he died two years later during the appeals process.
Florida Governor Charlie Crist pardoned the deceased singer in 2010 as one of his last acts in office, citing a lack of proof that he’d ever exposed himself in the first place.
