8 Reasons Avicii's 'True' Album Deserves Every Bit Of The Hype

5. 'Dear Boy' €“ A Collaborative Smorgasbord

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkalUgAlcLY Avicii is no stranger to collaboration, with pretty much all of his mainstream hits being the creative brain child of multiple artists. Alongside the excellent blends of genre in the album, 'True' demonstrates some awesome collaborations on another level €“ including a collaboration with legend Nile Rodgers (who is experiencing a massive comeback, following Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky's success), Mike Einziger of Incubus, Blondfire, Aloe Blacc (will someone get that man a dollar?), Dan Reynolds from Imagine Dragons and Adam Lambert. Alongside this, there are also collaborations with relatively unknown artists, and the range of vocalists in the album is great, varied and unusual. 'Dear Boy''s vocalist Karen Marie ˜rsted is channelling Lana Del Ray, and Audra Mae, the singer in 'Addicted To You' definitely has a bit of an Adele vibe about her. When asked who he prefers to work with, Avicii strongly favours working emerging talent to keep his work fresh, but the occasional use of legendary songwriters from outside the genre is something he's also floated - touting Stevie Wonder according to an interview with Digital Spy. Overall, working with a number of artists has contributed to keeping the album engaging, each bringing a different sound and different feel to each song. His collaborators are unexpected, but it works.
