9 Bizarre Conspiracy Theories About Popular Musicians

9. Lorde Isn't Actually A Teenager

Lorde is a New Zealand singer/songwriter who has achieved amazing success since the release of her 2013 album Pure Heroine (which spawned the critically acclaimed single Royals). One of Lorde's appealing qualities is her deep, soulful voice, made all the more impressive by the fact she was only seventeen years old when her studio debut released.

Except, Lorde isn't actually a teenager. At least, that's what many people think is the truth. It's likely this theory spawned from Lorde's more unique aesthetic (read: completely normal aesthetic but unique when compared to most modern, scantily clad pop-stars). The singer is known for wearing lavish black dresses, women's suits, shirts...pretty wild, right? Things weren't helped in 2014 during an interview with Rookie when Lorde referred to herself as a teenager in the past tense. She was quick, however, to correct the mistake, explaining that she still is one too. It's a rumour that animated show South Park famously capitalized on in the third episode of its eighteenth season, titled The Cissy. After the gang begins exploring gender, Stan's father Randy reveals that he is in fact the pop sensation, explaining how he started using the woman's bathroom at work but then later realised it helped him create music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enSDiaZJzEM
