9 Geeky Musicians You’ve Never Heard Of

7. Stringstorm

As a somewhat recent staple in the Warhammer 40K online community, Stringstorm has been actively producing Warhammer-themed music for several years now.

Appreciated by both newcomers and lore-rich Grognards alike, their tracks were made popular through the now prevalent fan-made animated series, If The Emperor Had A Text-To-Speech Device.

Though the vocal tracks aren't for everyone (and they certainly get stranger the deeper you jump into it) Stringstorm's instrumental tracks are resoundingly fantastic. His instrumental Ending Theme for the above series is the best example of this. With a mix of heavy percussion, grand orchestra, deep vocals and tearing guitar riffs, nothing else has quite managed to capture the feeling of Warhammer 40K like this has.

As adrenaline-pumping music goes this is one hell of a track, sure to turn even the most level headed xenophile into a chainsword wielding lunatic.

His two covers of the Pillar Men theme will also get to heart of any fans of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

My passion for all things Sci Fi goes back to my earliest days, when old VHS copies of Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet gripped my tiny mind with their big, noisy vehicles and terrifying puppets. I'd like to say my taste got more refined over the years, but between the Warhammer, Space Dandy and niche Star Wars EU books, perhaps it just got broader. I've enjoyed games of all calibre since I figured out that dice weren't just for eating, and have written prose ever since I was left unsupervised with some crayons next to a white wall. I got away with it by calling it "schoolwork" for as long as I could, and university helped me keep the charade going a while longer. Since my work began to get published, it's made all those long hours repainting the walls seem worth it.
