7. Somalian Pirates
Perhaps the most dangerous problem awaiting naval officers at sea is the threat of a takeover by armed Somalian pirates. The unpredictable and fearless looters and kidnappers are known to board ships and cause havoc. For this reason, sailors in the area are known to use western music as a deterrent to annoy and put-off the anti-western pirates. The most popular artist of choice, it seems, is Britney Spears - and particularly her songs Baby One More Time and Oops! I Did It Again. They're played on repeat, and it seems to work. "Its so effective the ships security rarely needs to resort to firing guns", notes Second Officer Owens. Apparently one has to be careful which tracks are played though.
