All US Number 1s From 2021 Ranked Worst To Best

4. Levitating - Dua Lipa

Okay, so this one is a bit of a cheat. Levitating actually peaked in the runner-up spot on the Hot 100, so it's technically not a number-one hit. But due to a persistent chart run (it first reached the top ten in January and was still in the region by October), it ended up topping the year-end rankdown for 2021.

Now, how can the number-one song of the year not count with the others? Especially when it's one of the best tunes we were given.

English singer Dua Lipa rode the disco-infused wave of nostalgia at the turn of the decade better than everyone - in fact, she named her second studio album after it. That record, Future Nostalgia, has provided us with hit upon hit, each one a danceworthy track that invaded clubs and radio stations alike, and cemented her status as a pop tour-de-force. Levitating is the best of all those hits, and it kept us dancing throughout 2021, something we desperately needed.
