Alter Bridge: 10 Best Hard Rock Songs

Counting down the best songs from the modern faces of hard rock.

In 2004, the world of post-grunge learned that one of the genre's leading figures, Creed, would be disbanding, effective immediately.

After a year of inactivity from both touring and recording, the band was pulled apart by tensions between vocalist, Scott Stapp, and the rest of the band. For some fans, this seemed like the end of the road for the musicians - at least as far as mainstream rock fame was concerned.

However, this assumption proved to be off the mark as new hard rock outfit, Alter Bridge, rose from the ashes of Creed with a new vocalist at the helm.

Myles Kennedy took the mic after leaving the relatively unknown Washington-based alternative rock band, The Mayfield Four, in 2002.

16 years on from their formation and Alter Bridge have firmly stepped out of Creed's shadow and have perhaps even surpassed Creed in certain respects. Now with six studio albums to their name, the hard rock outfit are one of the biggest names in the global rock scene at present, pulling crowds that most other groups can only dream of.

Note: This list is counting down Alter Bridge's best hard rock songs - which aren't necessarily their best overall tracks. The immaculate Blackbird is not included, for example.

10. Isolation

'AB III' is (unsurprisingly) Alter Bridge's third studio record and was released back in 2010. Coming off the back of two scorching album campaigns in 2004's 'One Day Remains' and 2007's 'Blackbird', this album had a lot to live up to in the eyes of fans.

Although rarely considered Alter Bridge's best record, 'AB III' is still a great album and mainly misses out on the top spot in their discography due to the phenomenal competition.

The success of this record was of course secured by the brilliant tunes which came from it. Some of these songs included 'Ghost of Days Gone By', 'Wonderful Life' and 'Slip to the Void' (remember that one for later). But, 'Isolation' was unquestionably one of the stand-out performances from the record, with an emotive atmosphere and sensational hard rock tone.
