Arctic Monkeys - AM: 12 Tracks Reviewed & Analysed

5. I Want It All

Bouncy and thrilling, harmony vocals and galloping guitar/bass work keep this mysterious and clever. Utilizing hand claps and tambourines, the percussion is noteworthy for its strangeness. Matt Helders had to reinvent some of his drumming techniques on a lot of tracks - usually being a manic, aggressive presence, but now taking a more subtle and minimalist approach to his drumming, clearly evident on this track. Something to also note is this track's pounding repetitiveness, which isn't a bad thing at all for this track. RATING: 4/5

6. No. 1 Party Anthem

Someone's trying to be Elton John. Being one of the more distant Monkeys tracks ever written, this mid-album cut finds Turner doing a solo show, basically. It all meanders and does its stroll down Nostalgia St. but the track on its own accord seems stale and misplaced. Spacious guitar shows up throughout and obligatorily does its fill. All of it is very underwhelming, from Turner's vocals to the instrumentation. RATING: 2/5
