http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usQ8AhiRcNE Writer: Lennon-McCartney (Lennon) Album: 'A Hard Day's Night' Lennon's almost autobiographical song from 'A Hard Day's Night' might seem very controlling when listened to by today's standards, what with the lines 'I got something to say that might cause you pain/ If I catch you talking to that boy again/I'm going to let you down/ And leave you flat'. Nevertheless, the slightly bluesy B-Side to 'Can't Buy Me Love' represents a period in Lennon's song writing career that produced some of the greats, and reflects the Beatles at perhaps their most young and naive. Besides, who doesn't enjoy those fantastic, classic Beatles backing vocals?

36. Happiness Is A Warm Gun

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUhIEEwSSSo Writer: Lennon-McCartney (Lennon) Album: 'The Beatles' (The White Album) Despite tensions during the recording of 'The White Album', The Beatles worked closely on 'Happiness Is a Warm Gun', to make sure the tricky timing and intricate rhythms. Despite not going down well with censors, 'Happiness Is A Warm Gun' has been very popular with other musicians since its release, being covered by everyone from Marilyn Manson to The Breeders, and being a main source of inspiration on Radiohead's epic song 'Paranoid Android'. The song itself stands out amongst other Beatles song for its segmented structure and varying rhythms, giving us another example of the group's genius.

35. Lady Madonna

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfthrizXKOM Writer: Lennon-McCartney (McCartney) Album: Single Opening with bluesy piano chords, 'Lady Madonna' is a Beatles song at quite obviously traces back to their Rock 'n' Roll roots, as well as piano blues, with McCartney himself saying the song came about after impersonating Fats Domino. The lyrics reflect both the Virgin Mary, and life for working-class women in Liverpool, presenting the listener with two different ends of the spectrum lyrically. This, combined with McCartney's enthusiastic music makes for one memorable Beatles song.
