Black Sabbath: 10 Most Underrated Songs
1. Bible Black - The Devil You Know
So when you pick something that's supremely underrated, how do you really gauge it? Do you go by an uncovered gem from the past or something that deserves to be celebrated just a bit more than it already is? Well, in Sabbath's case, to find some of the best songs, you have to venture beyond the band name itself.
Due to a legal dispute between management companies, the Dio incarnation of Sabbath was reborn in the late '00s in Heaven and Hell, who roared back with a vengeance on the Devil You Know. Though many expected a cheap cash in for albums like this, Bible Black may be one of the heaviest riffs that Iommi has written in over 30 years, with Ronnie out in full force as his screaming self.
Compared to the more haphazard releases that had been coming out in between, this sounded like the Dio lineup had never even stopped, with the perfect title to go along with an angel descending from heaven.
What makes this all the more impressive is that Dio was battling the cancer that would eventually take his life, and yet still sounds like the crazed banshee he was back in the early '80s.
While Bible Black might not share the name of the classic metal titans, it's soul is as Black as it ever was.
