Bloodstock Open Air Festival 2013: The Best of British Metal

Xentrix

You can always spot a vampire in a clasic horror film can't you? Even before "The Count" shows his fangs and takes that first bite, the hair, the cape and the tuxedo all make your brain scream "No...don't invite him in!" Just like the bloodthirsty count, thrash metal fans may well be the easiest "metallers" to spot - just look out for long hair (though not essential these days), sleeveless t shirts and, most important of all, a heavily patched denim jacket, the more obsure the bands the better! Try it it next time you're at a rock night or festival (though maybe's not Cream Fields), in fairness you'll probably bump into me! Were it not for the protective bubble that surrounds thrash metal, Xentrix may well have been forgotton in the annals of UK metal folklore. Formed in 1985, Preston lads Xentrix were leaders in the UK thrash scene, securing a deal with Road Runner records in the late 80's and even opening for legends Sepultura and Testament. Every bit as good as their "American cousins", they shoud've been huge, but somehow it all went sour by the mid 90's. Fast forward to the Sophie Lancaster Stage in 2013 and you'd never have guessed Xentrix had been away for 20 years. If you missed them, worry not; the band have announced they're writing new material. Until then, here's the opening track from their debut "Shattered Existence" - welcome back chaps! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l34w9-Gn3LE
