Bowie's Wife Accidentally Confirms 'The Next Day' Tour
Its been quite a rush of late for fans of David Bowie; what with his sudden and out of the blue singleWhere Are We Now? coinciding with the announcement of a new album in the shape of The Next day, soon followed by the stellar second singleThe Stars (Are Out Tonight), then the early free streaming of the album before its release at the start of this week which if youve not checked it out has been reviewed here for your pleasure so have a nose. All that aside though, as exciting and incendiary a return as it might of been. There was an early on promise that Bowie would not be touring this album and had no intention of doing so, from the man himself. However as those previously mentioned momentous events of this comeback started to unfold, rumours began to circulate most notably from Bowies guitarist Gerry Leonard who told Rolling Stone he felt there was a 50/50 chance that there might be a tour. Still, as promising as that was, there was no word from the man himself. That is, until now, sort of. Whilst not explicitly shot from the horses mouth himself, it comes from the very next in line in closeness by way of his wife, Iman Abdulmajid. In a recent interview with Grazia magazine, Iman, his wife of 21 years, supermodel and businesswoman, let slip there would be a tour happening when she discussed the inability of herself and their family going on the road with him: "We have a 12-year-old in school, so we are stuck, we can't travel. Our schedule is around her, so I don't know. We'll have to go visit him, but we won't be on tour with him because she's in school." Now, if his wife and daughter are already disappointed they wont be on the road, but are planning visits to certain dates and places. I have the distinct feeling, call it an educated suspicion, that Bowie will be on tour in promotion, and more so celebration, of this album its pretty much promoted itself. These will be Bowie's first live performances since 2006, and his first tour since the 2003/4 Reality Tour. A friend of mine has already promised via text that he will murder or maim for tickets, and Im on board with this spree. Must. See. Bowie. What with Nine Inch Nailsback together and on the road, imagine if this collaboration happened again sometime over the proceeding tour. I mean, it wont, but imagine is it too much to ask when weve already been giving, and are going to get, so much from both this year? Pretty please? http://youtu.be/c7_Te7iDojA
