Dance Gavin Dance - Acceptance Speech Album Review: All Eleven Tracks Analyzed
10. The Jiggler For song ten of Acceptance Speech, Dance Gavin Dance create a song emblematic of the album as a whole. "The Jiggler" is a competent, entertaining track that, aside from Swan's guitar playing, does little to set itself apart on its own, but combines with others on the album to create a solid, worthwhile forty-four minutes of music. The song does contain an interesting, call and response style post-verse section between Pearson's vocals and Swan's chiming guitar riff. 11. Turn Off The Lights. I'm Watching Back To The Future pt. II Thanks to the clever syntactical design of the title, it is unclear if the band is referencing a viewing of the 1989 sequel to Robert Zemeckis' sci-fi classic or a continuation of their song, "Turn Off The Lights. I'm Watching Back To The Future," from their 2007 album, Downtown Battle Mountain. Either way, the band ends their fifth album with its best song, propelled by another brilliant musical composition and guitar performance from Will Swan. Each trademark of the band's music comes together and gels in a way that was slightly missing on, "Death Of The Robot With Human Hair." High pitched, urgent clean vocals, Swan's eclectic, dynamic guitar playing and hardcore caliber intensity are all present and combine to create a passionate, memorable album highlight to finish the set. Dance Gavin Dance once again overcome the departure of multiple band members from their last album to create a work that retains the core elements of their identity, but does little to expand the scope of their music. An above average, entertaining album, Acceptance Speech is the result of a consistent band delivering another set of good tunes. Album Highlights: "Turn Off The Lights. I'm Watching Back To The Future pt. II," "Doom And Gloom"
