Chthonic was made in Taiwan and is in fact a five piece who deal in a blend of melodic death metal, symphonic black metal, folk and traditional Taiwanese music. The band use their incredibly accessible take on melodic death and black metal as a basis for storytelling and ancient history; their lyrics embrace those traditional black metal themes of folklore and mythology focussing on bringing attention to those of Taiwan especially, including tragic events in Taiwans history, but the band also immerse themselves lyrically and personally in political activism supporting womens rights, animal rights, Taiwanese independence and human right among other things.
