Download Festival 2015: 11 Heavy Tracks Muse Need To Play

6. Psycho

Given the lack of ferocity on most of Muse's more recent albums, their Download booking looked a little odd, to say the least, but it was clearly organised to coincide with a change in focus for the band. Or at the very least, a re-adoption of their founding principles of emotional rawness and some heavier licks.

That much became clear when Drones' opening release Psycho landed, stripping back the assumed pomposity of their years-long space-opera odyssey (not a criticism, actually). The song's bones belong way back before the Millennium turned, as the main riff has peppered their live sets since 1999.

Considering 2001's Origin Of Symmetry is their best work (and their heaviest), that spells good news for this track and for its inevitable place on the Download setlist.

This is raw, thunderous metal from a band wanting to be loud, and it would be a great starting point for their set.
