Every Bob Dylan Album Ranked Worst To Best

7. Time Out Of Mind (1997)

Featuring his first original music since 1990's Under The Red Sky, Time Out Of Mind is often considered a major comeback for Dylan, following his artistic struggles during the 80s.

An impressively meditative work that finds Dylan adopting a crunchy blues sound with a moody side of country and rock beats, the album digs deep into concepts such as love, fear, history and death, and does so with a perfect blend of introspective thoughtfulness and protest.

Between the epic 16-minute opus Highlands, a swooning piece of poetry with a complex allure and the atmospheric Not Dark Yet, Time Out Of Mind features some of Dylan's most impressive musical numbers and wisest lyrics, and though he himself didn't take to the record's production values, there's no doubt that his landmark 30th album is an all-timer.
