Every David Bowie Album Ranked Worst To Best (By Guitar Power)

16. David Live (1974)

The problem with this live album is that whilst Earl Slick, who replaces Ronson here, is a great guitarist, the Ronson-era songs have been de-fanged and sound like a covers band re-tread – the fire has gone.

The set list is flawless, how could it fail with the kind of catalogue Bowie had to draw upon, but there is no sense of danger. Ronson gave Bowie his rock’n’roll edge, without Ronno the difference is clear, great but not essential.
