The beautiful country of Canada boasts three major exports: Maple syrup, ice skates and musicians that everyone loves to hate. They have given us Celine Dion, Drake, Justin Bieber, Bryan Adams and so many more, but it's this hard rocking four-piece that draws the most flack.
As the Marmite of bands, Nickelback have a difficult time when it comes to their reputation. Though, that hasn't stopped them from being one of the biggest selling rock bands on the planet. It's not as if the band haven't earned the honour either. Since their start, all the way back in 1995, Nickelback have put out nine studio albums, selling over 50 million records.
There's no doubt that the band wouldn't be nearly as successful, if not for the tireless efforts of frontman Chad Kroeger. The singer has been self-producing since the early days and has even written songs with Santana, Chris Daughtry and Zakk Wylde.
Kroeger's song writing has often been criticised for their overly sexual nature and glamorisation of alcohol, but that hasn't stopped him from penning some highly impactful and meaningful lyrics as well.
