Foo Fighters: 10 Incredible Tracks You've Probably Never Heard

5. Erase/Replace

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEVh9UjzuGw A soundscape that brings to mind the likes of Colour and the Shape's Drive Me Wild or One by One's Low, the Foos have always been able to jump between a huge number of comfort zones - which when one of them is a drum-heavy crowd-chanter is something special indeed. It is true as mentioned earlier that half of Echoes, Patience, Silence & Grace is a more subdued affair, but with Erase/Replace you can tell Grohl and co. just wanted to make a song that would be sung back to them by the tens of thousands on tour. At the three-quarter mark they actually turn the composition on it's head, Metallica's Unforgiven-style, going quieter for the interlude before bringing the drums and distortion back in for the big send-off.
