Iron Chic - "The Constant One" Album Review: All 11 Tracks Analyzed

11. Whatever Happened To The Man Of Tomorrow €“ The closing song of Iron Chic's second album continues to utilize the well trod techniques and elements the band has employed throughout their career, while also stretching out the song structure and running time, keeping the song fresh and engaging for the listener. The extended structure adds an increased measure of weight and credibility to the song, elevating it from the fun, relatively low prestige style of pop-punk to the serious, substantial territory of artistic rock. For the chorus, Lubrano delivers a line fitting for the end of this excellent album in the form of, "Until we fall back down to Earth / we can try not to let it hurt / till we're in holes in the f**king dirt," demonstrating one final time the fiery, make-the-best-of-every-situation determination of the band. For their second album, Iron Chic has created a record that definitively surpasses their debut, while keeping the elements that make the band's music so appealing thoroughly intact. The Constant One rises above the low esteem style of pop-punk and into the more artistic territories of serous rock music with expanded song structure and a wider dynamic range. These elements, together with improved sound production and the band's inexhaustibly intrepid attitude, create one of the most constantly exceptional pop-punk/rock albums of the year. That one friend may seem like nothing special at first, but after only a few days in his company, you'll understand why he is truly extraordinary. Album Highlights: "Prototypes," "A Serious House On Serious Earth," "Don't Drive Angry"
