Korn: EVERY Album Ranked Worst To Best
6. The Serenity Of Suffering
Recapturing the tone and heavy sound of their earlier records, The Serenity of Suffering saw Korn put the experiments away and hit fans with an album as heavy as it is nostalgic and epic. With the singles "Insane," "Rotting In Vain" and the brilliant, long overdue Corey Taylor joint "A Different World," the album is Korn at the height of their powers.
The atmosphere is tense throughout the record, with Davis' vocals hitting a particular high with the moody "Black is the Soul" and the powerfully written "Die Yet Another Night."
Despite some repetitive beats and the unfortunately forgettable bonus tracks "Baby" and "Calling Me Too Soon," The Serenity of Suffering marks a serious turning point in the band's later work following years of line-up changes and musical experiments. Head, Munky and Fieldy's knack for creating a heavy sound and Davis' unfaltering vocal power is to die for on this record, and for long-time fans this is about as nostalgic as the band has even gotten.
