Mark Tremonti's 10 Best Guitar Solos

3. Open Your Eyes

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eYHvrgPqQ0 (Fan comment: Look at Myles back then!) One of the best things about The AB Nation and the contrasting opinions around each album's high and low points (although nearly all of us will tell you every single song is flawless, before most likely flashing a tattoo), is that some still point to this cut from the first album as one of Mark's best efforts. Even in 2014 with the next two solos on this list coming later in his career and belonging to more progressive songs, Open Your Eyes just has something truly special about it. Maybe that initial fire that burned in Tremonti to distance himself so much from what had gone before came through in this piece, but it really does have everything that makes a timeless solo. Thanks to a string-snapping Open D tuning many guitarists will know all too well, this piece was written to soar above the heavens and beyond, and thanks to the screaming high notes that open the piece through to some intricately picked passages that throw many players off, Open Your Eyes remains a setlist mainstay not only for its incredibly uplifting chorus, but for this amazingly intricate section too.
