Meat Loaf: 10 Incredible Forgotten Songs

3. Razor's Edge

After falling out with muse Jim Steinman following 1981's Dead Ringer, Meat Loaf needed to release an album and had a crack at writing some of the songs himself. Razor's Edge was the opening track from Midnight At The Lost And Found and was one of Meat's first attempts at crafting a song.

A paranoid yet thrilling effort, the chorus was perfect for Meat Loaf's ability to push the hard rock vocal whilst still keeping it melodic and controlled. The video, in which Meat is ambushed and taken to an asylum allowed him to demonstrate his acting chops and made sure that even without Steinman on board the singer would still be enjoying himself and engaging in some over-the-top theatrics.

Razor's Edge was a failed single, stalling at #41 on the UK chart and its status as an over-looked gem is to be found on Spotify. Check the listens for 1984's Hits Out Of Hell and you'll discover Razor's Edge is the least listened to.

It still has nearly a million engagements, but the following track, Paradise By The Dashboard Light has over 100,000,000. It's worth checking out Razor's Edge to help bring it into the million club.
