Metallica: Ranking Every Album's First Song
7. Fight Fire With Fire - Ride The Lightning
We're going all the back to 1984 and the band's second album for our next entry. Ride The Lightning helped solidify the band as one of the titans of mid-80s heavy metal and contains two of their most iconic and enduring songs - "Creeping Death" and "For Whom the Bell Tolls".
Oh, and "Fade to Black". You might have heard of that one.
One song you might struggle to recall is the album's opener, a decent but skippable track called "Fight Fire with Fire".
Starting off with some classical style guitar, "Fight Fire with Fire" segues into a cacophony of noise that, unfortunately, is pretty mid table in the list of similar Metallica songs.
It's exciting for sure and is definitely a head banger, but it lacks that little something extra that would have elevated it above "decent".
Considering the absolute classics on this album, opening with a song like this doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
The opening guitar is different enough to kick it up a few places on the list, however, this album had a perfectly good "Creeping Death" right there. Need we say more?
