Instead, Ties That Bind is written about wanting and needing to break free of the position they were in, and boy can you tell. Myles sounds absolutely furious on the breakdown around the two minute mark, leading to the part you'll be most blown away by as he screams "Damn you all, I'm going to find my way" just as the band thunders in underneath him and all hell breaks loose. Ties That Bind is one of the bands heaviest songs thanks not only to the lyrics, but also the raucous machine-gun-fire riff that powers away underneath, making it many fans' absolute favourite. It remains the first song on-album we all heard after Myles had become a key songwriter with the band, and from here on out there was nowhere to go but up.
