Ranking The '27 Club' Based On Musical Talent

6. Robert Johnson

Robert Johnson is most recognised for his blues music, but could also easily adapt his style into both a country and jazz form of sound. His music usually featured a soft guitar riff and the sound of a harmonica; as well as his cool, slick vocals. Unfortunately for Johnson it wasn't until many years after his passing that his talent was discovered on a more mainstream scale. During his lifetime he was left to play his records in juke joints for very little money, but his music hit popularity afterwards, being reissued in the 1960s and influencing the likes of Eric Clapton and The Rolling Stones. The cause of the musician's death is unclear; creating a variety or versions, some pretty farfetched. People claim that the devil came back for Johnson, after he had previously exchanged his soul for the music talent he acquired. The most common theory though is that he was given a bottle of whiskey containing poison after flirting with another man's wife. As the years have passed by, Johnson has received many accolades for his musical talent. Including two Grammy Awards for 'Best Historical Album' and the 'Lifetime Achievement' honour; yet he died unfamiliar with success. Maybe that was down to the Devil too?
