Ranking Every Metallica Album From Worst To Best
4. Kill 'Em All (1983)
Best Tracks: The Four Horsemen, Seek and Destroy, Whiplash
Worst Track: (Anesthesia) - Pulling Teeth
Metallica's first album represented the birth of a whole new sound, and is of course the record without which these other nine wouldn't exist. It is an absolute spine-ripper of a debut, far more skilfully composed and mature than just about anyone would expect from a bunch of 20-year-olds.
It is pure, unrestrained thrash fury at its near-best, and while not all the experiments pay off 100% (Pulling Teeth is more interesting than a sheer joy to listen to), the insane speed makes it a blistering, goosebump-raising experience.
