http://youtu.be/yew9L0Xjm_g Taken from the album Hell Awaits (1985) Admittedly, Hell Awaits was co-written with Kerry King but its influence is undeniable and Hanneman's bloody fingerprints are smeared all over it. Infinitely more progressive and diverse than 1983's Show No Mercy, Hell Awaits signalled Slayer's true arrival and they were ferocious, confident and more importantly blessed with two guitarists who could rip and tear through the competition. The production may be lacking but the songwriting certainly isn't and Hanneman was already proving that Slayer were going places. This opening track, with its over-the-top demonic intro, is another stone-cold Thrash Metal classic and one of Jeff Hanneman's defining moments. RIP Jeff Hanneman. I love Heavy Metal, and generally anything that involves a guitar and loud noises, so I figured it was about time I put all the useless information in my head to good use and start writing a few things.
