Sevendust: Kill The Flaw - 11 Tracks Reviewed & Ranked

2. Peace And Destruction

There€™s just something about the combined vocal power of Lajon Witherspoon when the rest of the band are taking turns backing him up that€™s unmatched. Seriously, no hard rock band puts such a focus on providing an instantly recognisable vocal presence, and it€™s one that pays dividends in the modern arena when the sound barrier-breaking roar that opens this track kicks in. The word of the day here is energy, a quality you realise applies to every track on the album when all€™s said and done. In particular, Peace and Destruction, with its relentlessly infectious haymaker of pounding riffs and traded vocals, proves at no point were Sevendust going to let up from snatching you up and along for the ride.

1. Kill The Flaw

I always love when a band knows they€™re naming their album after the best song on there, and with KTF it€™s one hell of a statement of intent going forward. Put simply, this is going to absolutely SLAY live. From the background gang-vocals to a lung-emptying chorus, it€™s testament to Sevendust€™s continued formation as essentially the same five guys from 1994 that shows a real maturity and refined focus in their work. Taking everything from a wah pedal-drenched solo to a lumberjack-swing of a breakdown, they€™ve produced a song that€™s more than worthy of carrying the album on its shoulders. What's your favourite track on the album? Let us know in the comments what your order would be!
