Sonisphere 2014: 10 Really Obscure Metallica Songs You Need To Request

1. Frayed Ends Of Sanity

It is only song that Metallica has never played live among their 80's era album. There can be no mistaking that this track above all others would be included as the first pick by Metallica fans in an offer of request. So popular is this song in fact that its very likely to be the only request Metallica receive from a majority of fans in this bizarre offer. Anyone who has attended a Metallica performance in the last twenty years has heard the obligatory section of the show when - as the band return to the stage prior to their encore - Lars Ulrich rouses the audience in a spirited rendition of participation. That sound the audience make is - in actual fact - the chords from Frayed Ends of Sanity. The band have only ever performed this song on a few very brief occasions and in all of those instances it has been heavily abridged. What is more is that Metallica know this - they're fully aware of the audiences request for this song - but have toyed with the idea of performing this track at virtually every performance in the last 15 years and never once delivered. Regardless of the process for the request of these songs (when specific material is offered or whether the box is left blank and you can write whatever you want) you can be assured there has already been much discussion on the band's official fan club forum (Poor Posting Me) about this matter and Frayed Ends beats all other contenders by a mile.
