9. Tell All The People
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w78xaWKq-uQ On The Record With the bands fourth album, The Soft Parade, Morrison insisted that each track be given individual writing credits. This was a departure from previous albums, where all songs by the band were cited as being a group effort. The reason for this change of tact was quite simply that Morrison wasn't overly keen on this opening track from Krieger, who also wrote the majority of the album. While Morrisons issue resided in the songs sometimes violent lyrics (Can't you see me growing, get your guns), which, depending on the tale you believe, were spawned from an altercation Krieger had with some rednecks, these misgivings cant be heard on the track, which remains one of Morrisons best crooning efforts and singled Krieger out as not just a writer of the bands more radio-friendly output. Waxing Lyrical Follow me across the sea/ where milky babies seem to be/ molded, flowing revelry/ with the one that set them free. Hats off to Krieger for conjuring up some psychedelic imagery by stringing together these standout lyrics from the track.
