The Killers: Ranking The Christmas Songs From Worst To Best
5. Christmas In L.A.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=938GYJjxBeU 2013's Christmas In L.A. certainly represents one of the band's 'songs about Christmas', when considered against the tone and atmosphere of so many others but it's nevertheless a wonderfully touching ballad. The song features American band Dawes, whom Brandon Flowers has taken near enough every opportunity to talk of his admiration for and the two vocalists compliment each other perfectly. Christmas In L.A. tells the tale of a struggling actor considering his life as he finds himself solemn and lonely at Christmas time. It's an alternative look at the "most wonderful time of the year", but one that will no doubt find resonance so many globe-trotters and dream-chasers who sacrifice so much for a career or a lifestyle. The song's video features Owen Wilson representing the struggling narrator and Harry Dean Stanton even appears as a somewhat unhelpful guide. It's a touching and powerful anthem that, in truth, I could happily find myself listening to all year long. Flowers' knack for storytelling is well-known, and it is captured yet again within Christmas In L.A.
