The Secret Genius Behind Your Favourite Songs

1. Worked With Rivers Cuomo For Weezer's "Trainwrecks"

Weezer were not in the best place when it came time to record their 8th album Hurley. With their fanbase despising the band's new direction on the previous album Raditude, the time was now for Weezer to return to their roots. Needing an extra boost, the band sought out Child to help them with a track or two for the new record.

Starting with the basic 4-chord structure, Child took the initial idea that Rivers Cuomo had and turned it into an emotional rollercoaster of a song. Though Hurley has had a bit of a mixed reception among fans, many agree that "Trainwrecks" may be one of the best empowerment songs the band have ever released. The singer in the song is downtrodden, but still determined to confront the impossible tasks that lie ahead of him. While Raditude was also marred with outside songwriters, Child was clearly the right man for the job when it came to bringing new life into Weezer's pop punk sound.

Even with this epic track, Weezer weren't quite able to return to form completely until their next effort Everything Will Be Alright In the End. Child's efforts may not have been as lucrative as his previous offerings, but it was a step in the right direction for one of the kings of pop-punk.
