Playing the 2am-4am slot on Friday night, Animal Collective will be putting on an insanely trippy, light filled show. Starting out in the freak-folk realm, Animal Collective have charted an interesting path throughout their career over the past decade. They created some truly experimental albums full of found-sound samples and noise before settling on their current platform: acid-fueled shiny pop.
They sound like the Beach Boys heard through the ears of someone taking mushrooms, and I mean that as a high compliment. Their music pushes boundaries left and right but still never loses sight of being emotionally effective. If you have never listened to Animal Collective, go to this show and watch as your mind gets blown to bits. Youll be thanking me after.
