Trivium - What The Dead Men Say Review: Every Song Ranked Worst To Best

8. Bending The Arc To Fear

Trivium what the dead men say

Despite having one of the most metal and hard as nails song titles, Bending the Arc to Fear is a little bit forgettable in comparison to just how massive the rest of What the Dead Men say is. Saying that, it's still the most white hot, heavy song on the album.

Heafy seems to be dueting with himself here, playing off vocal hooks and savage shouts. In addition, there’s all sorts of inspiration in the guitar solos; the band have mentioned incorporating Eastern European Gypsy jazz scales into Catastrophist but Bending the Arc to Fear features a short line blended into the chorus that sounds almost Middle Eastern.

Although Bending the Arc to Fear can be a little forgettable at first, that’s more a comment on how good the rest of the album is rather than the quality of the song. It’s one of the few songs on the album that is genuinely exciting to hear as the technical proficiency makes for exciting listening every single time.
