Where Are They Now? - The Headliners Of Download 2003
7. Saturday Scuzz Stage Headliner: A
Download's first-ever second stage headliners were the underrated nu metal gems, purveyors of oddly-acclaimed bass guitarists, and absolute nightmare to try and Google: A. The Perry Family-led troupe were appearing at the maiden Download on the back of 2002's 'Hi-Fi Serious', featuring their most acclaimed hit and absolute bop, "Nothing".
The group would disband in 2005 following the release of their fourth album 'Teen Dance Ordinance', before reforming in 2008, though they are yet to release a follow-up. In addition to their second bassist - BBC Radio 1 presenter Daniel P. Carter - A have also had McFly's Dougie Poynter occupy the four-strings, as well as former Kids in Glass Houses bassist Andrew "Shay" Sheehy and currently, the position is occupied by former Architects and Whitemare guitarist Tim Hillier-Brook.
A would return to Download in 2005 before their hiatus, playing Saturday's main stage ahead of Trivium, The Dwarves and The Mad Capsule Markets. In the last five or so years, A have experienced something of a cult revival for those fond of the early 2000s, resulting in a couple more Donington returns, such as 2015 as they headlined the fourth 'Jake's Stage', and 2018's Sunday appearance on 'The Avalanche Stage', behind Less Than Jake and headliners The Hives.
