A Wilhelm Scream - PARTYCRASHER Album Review: All Eleven Tracks Analysed
3. Devil Don't Know On "Devil Don't Know," A Wilhelm Scream slow the pace slightly from the hyper speed tempos heard on past albums, allowing the unpolished abrasion of guitar and voice to scrape and slash powerfully, adding satisfying bite to the song. The band add a number of highly technical guitar flourishes, but mostly stick to a slightly up-tempo, streamlined blueprint, producing a satisfying, thumping punk rock song. 4. Number One For the incongruously titled fourth song, "Number One," the band showcase some intricate, dual guitar chugging, producing interesting guitar interplay that helps put the band's individual stamp on the otherwise less unique sounding song. While failing to match the brash, spontaneous mastery of the band's best album, 2005's Ruiner, "Number One," manages to be a slightly generic but solid album track that strengthens PARTYCRASHER with its presence. 5. Gut Sick Companion A Wilhelm Scream thoroughly smash apart any notions of a loss of their musical identity on the raging, "Gut Sick Companion." Bassist Brian Robinson grabs control of the song from the very beginning, matching every high energy, technically demanding guitar run. The bassist even steals the spotlight at times with acrobatic, finger tapped riffs and dexterous runs. Singer Nuno Pereira also manages to convey compelling emotion with his rough vocals, imbuing each shout with a sense of genuine necessity; communicating to the listener the pure need he has to express himself. A short, complex thrasher, "Gut Sick Companion" is an album highlight that leads nicely into PARTYCRASHER's strong middle section.
