10 Best Harry Potter Chapters
7. Hermione's Secret
Book: The Prisoner of Azkaban
Chapter Synopsis: Harry and Hermione use the Time-Turner to save Buckbeak and rescue Sirius.
The Time-Turner has received plenty of criticism over the years, particularly following the events of The Cursed Child. Nevertheless, time travel was handled relatively well in The Prisoner of Azkaban. By going back just a few hours, Rowling kept things simple.
There were many great moments in this chapter, such as when Harry and Hermione flew Buckbeak across the grounds and over the castle. Yet the best moment was Harry’s use of the Patronus Charm against the onslaught of dementors, which was a great exemplification of Harry’s power. Indeed, this was the best moment of the whole book.
In contrast to the end of the first two novels (which both involved going beneath Hogwarts), Harry and Hermione’s race against time through the grounds of the castle made for a welcome change.
