10 Best Terry Pratchett Books
6. The Wee Free Men
In 2003, Pratchett broke away from the usual Discworld book structure to an extent, and wrote a book aimed towards young adults in The Wee Free Men. As the prequel to A Hat Full of Sky, The Wee Free Men is the first of two consecutive books to feature Tiffany Aching as the main character.
Although not the first Discworld book to be aimed at young adults, The Wee Free Men is still a distinguishable and notable work from Pratchett's catalogue thanks to its unique story line and vibrant characters. The Wee Free Men follows the story of nine-year-old Tiffany, as she discovers the existence of a tiny race of human like creatures called Nac Mac Feegle. Once Tiffany breaks down the wall of fear between the Nac Mac Feegle and herself, she enlists their help to rescue her kidnapped brother, Wentworth, who is being held by the Queen of the Fairies.
The Wee Free Men won five awards within a year of its release including awards from WH Smith, the American Library Association and a Locus Award.
