10 Biggest Reasons Everybody Is Abandoning Facebook

10. Advertisements

Facebook It may not be one of the more deeply rooted causes behind the Internet's creeping flight from Facebook, but hell if it isn't the straw that breaks the camel's back. These days on Facebook, it seems you can't scroll two inches through your feed without coming across a 'sponsored post' or a 'suggested page' smack in the middle of it. Not to mention the ever-changing side column advertisements that I, at least, accidentally click on at least twice per day. Seriously, I just want to reopen a minimised chat tab, I don't want to pre-order an album from a band I've never heard of for $7.99 on iTunes just because someone somewhere figured out that I like Imagine Dragons and they totally have the same exact sound. Honestly! This is coupled with the fact that Facebook is launching new video ads this year that€”wait for it€”play automatically when you load your news feed (albeit without sound). Somehow, this is supposed to be an exciting new development for users. Sure, you can install an ad-blocking extension for your browser, or just avoid them as much as possible, but it really comes down to the fact that all it does is add to the volume of junk that you have to sift through on Facebook in order to get to the small quantity of posts that actually matter to you.
