It's been a few years now since Gwyneth Paltrow occupied the movie star limelight - her career peak came following on from her appearance in Se7en, with her Oscar-winning performance in Shakespeare in Love in 1998. It was during this period of stardom that Paltrow earned the unwanted attention of a particularly fanatical fan, 49-year-old Dante Soiu of Ohio. He mailed her hundreds of letters, including ones of a sexually graphic nature, and piles of gifts from pornography to chocolates, even leaving some of them outside her parents' home. Despite repeated warnings to stay away from Paltrow and her family, Soiu continued to harass them up to the point where Paltrow began having nightmares about being sexually assaulted. By 2000, Dante Soiu was arrested and declared legally insane and sent to a secure psychiatric facility. In 2013 he was released, but shortly after was again arrested - for violating a protection order and stalking a Dublin woman.
