10 Creepy Animated Horror Shorts To Watch This Halloween

7. Crooked Rot

An early Youtube creation by the same man who created Salad Fingers, David Firth, Crooked Rot is reminiscent of 90s era MTV: inexplicable, creepy, a little disgusting, and incredibly creative, with claymation and a plethora of other strange objects stop motion animated to a creepshow without any actual narrative.

Touted as a "stop motion nightmare", the video does indeed feel like a waking nightmare, going from one disturbing image to the next in rapid succession, with no rhyme or reason, while strange but appropriate music and sound effects play in the background. Mannequin heads and hands, fake blood, big googly eyes, and the one time appearance of a pig headed human, all somehow work together in a style that fits.

And whether you see deeper symbolism in the imagery or simply enjoy creepiness and weirdness that the creator seems to have found gleeful enjoyment in making, it's worth the watch for the unsettling, abstract side of the spooky season.
