10 Creepy Stories About Real Life Executioners
7. Johann Reichhart
It’s not surprising that some executioners can be twisted people, but Johann Reichhart’s story really seems dark. Johann Reichhart was an executioner in Germany at the time of World War II and was also a member of the Nazi party. His job consisted of executing people accused of war crimes, such people the Nazis deemed a traitor. He played a dark part in history, but what makes it worse is that he didn’t pay the full price for it. Whilst many Nazis received the death penalty, Reichhart managed to dodge this. Why? Because even though his death count was high, he didn’t kill anyone in battle or in a concentration camp.
Although he didn’t receive the death penalty, he was hired (with little choice in the matter) to execute other Nazi war criminals. He executed at least 21 Nazis before refusing to work anymore. This led him to be fined and imprisoned for two years, as well as being forbidden to vote or engage with politics. Throughout his career he killed over 3000 people, the majority of them being within the years of World War 2.
