10 Deliciously Monstrous Food Records You Won't Believe Actually Exist

9. Hummus War!

Without giving you a massive history lesson, Lebanon and Israel aren't the best of pals. A good-humoured rivalry has developed between the two nations when it comes to a disputed foodstuff. No-one quite knows who invented hummus but the record for the biggest bowl of it has been passed back and forth between Israel and Lebanon for years. Lebanon currently holds the Guinness World Record for the world's largest bowl of hummus at 10 metric tonnes: that's about 3 African Bush Elephants. They took the record from their neighbours who had taken it from them only two months before with a bowl of around 5 tonnes. The Hummus War might well be the pettiest conflict in history.
