10 Everyday Things You've Been Doing All Wrong

4. Peanut Butter (In General)

Science is something that often goes completely over our heads. 'Leave that to those blokes on the telly', we cry, safe in the knowledge that they're the ones running the world and not us. God bless them then for figuring out that peanut butter jars are supposed to be stored upside down. What is this madness?!

You see, storing your peanut butter jar upside down prevents the peanut oil from floating on top when you open the jar. Too much oil can ruin the consistency of that nutty butter (no jokes, please), leaves it tasting weird and can even dry out the tasty spread. This doesn't happen if you pack the jar on its head.

As this has been a known issue for years now, it's confusing that companies making the stuff don't pack them in a more conveniently-shaped tub. Those rounded lids are the worst; try balancing one of those upside down in the cupboard. Go on, we dare you.
