10 Facts You Didn't Know About Your Vagina

4. It Is Self Cleaning

That's right, your vagina works to stay clean, but this doesn't mean that personal hygiene isn't important and that you should just stop showering. Your vagina is colonised by healthy bacteria and microorganisms which work to keep trouble at bay and maintain a natural pH balance. The normal pH balance is around 4.3 but this can fluctuate due to a change in diet, having sex and being on your period. So when you are washing, make sure you don't use anything that will trigger this pH balance to become too acidic. Even though that glittery shower gel smells amazing and makes you sparkle, it's not going to be good for your vagina. If you find yourself showering regularly to mask a strong odour coming from your vagina, washing won't make that go away as you could have an infection, again, go and see your doctor.
