10 Fake Stories About Disney Parks You Probably Believe

9. Walt Disney's Is Buried Beneath Magic Kingdom

Another persistent rumour that refuses to die is that Walt Disney's body is buried underneath the Magic Kingdom.

The story goes that when Walt Disney died his body was cryogenically frozen. Walt was then buried under the park. The rumour is often slightly different depending on who you ask, some say he was buried under Cinderella Castle, others the Partners Statue and one of the most well known is that he's under Pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyland.

These stories have been dismissed several times by the Disney family. They have pointed out that Walt was never even cryogenically frozen. Two days after his death from lung cancer, Walt was cremated and his ashes scattered in Glendale, California.

Disney died 5 years before Walt Disney World opened making the story of his resting place underneath Cinderella Castle unlikely.

The last ride that Walt worked on was Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland, so this may be source of that rumour.
