10 Famous Authors Who Show Up As Characters In Their Own Work

1. Stephen King - The Dark Tower

Ah, Stephen King. One of the world's most beloved horror writers. His books are so widely-known, in fact, that they show up in his own novels. That's right, in the penultimate book of The Dark Tower series (titled The Dark Tower) the character Roland stumbles across a copy of Salem's Lot and learns of a man named Stephen King's existence. When Roland and co. later meet King in his home in Maine, they freak out over whether or not he actually created them, forcing them to hypnotize and interrogate him. Luckily for them, they learn that Stephen King is not in fact God, but is simply an inter-dimensional chronicler who merely records their adventures. Phew!
"Stephen King's not the water, Susannah€”he's only the pipe the water runs through."
Whatever you say, Roland. Did you enjoy this article? Share your thoughts in the comments thread below.
