10 Famous People The Media Wrongly Declared Dead

10. Pope John Paul II

Pope John Paul II has unfortunately had three premature obituaries published against his name, and an even more unfortunate accurate one being that he was actually dead. Strangely, two of those came about on the very same day! After an attempt on his life during 1981, CNN implied the Pope had died by repeatedly referring to the Pope in the past tense across an entire broadcast. Again in 2003, CNN published an obituary for the Pope (among many other celebrities and notable figures - all prepared beforehand based around a template for The Queen Mother), which noted the Pope had a 'love of racing'. Of course, this comment was from the Queen Mother's template and had simply been left in. When the day of the Pope's death finally arrived on April 2, 2005, Fox News managed to confirm the death of the Pope hours and hours before he had actually died, due to their foolish error in trusting the Italian media who are renowned for erroneous reporting.
